Not Enough to Be

By Exener

What does one do... when it is not the time
Not the time to make a choice

What does one do... when the clarity is missing
A clarity so desperately longingly needed

What does one do... when the impulse is present
And the impulse remaining unidentifiable veiled

What does one do... what does one do

For there is a seed
There is a voice that says... it is not enough to be
Not in this time, not in this world
It is a time to do... to undo... to unravel... to remedy
There is a voice that calls out... to me

What does one do... in answer to that voice
The voice that reminds lest one forgets

What does one do... when the outrage bursts forth
An outrage always present and stuffed for so long

What does one do... to save oneself
From the crippling insanity of mired non-action

What does one do... in the face of insanity
The insanity of others... deeds

What does one do... with these deeds of others
These actions ripping one apart to the very core of her being

What does one do... when it is not enough to be
