Dobson Attacks American Families

CNN has given Dr. James Dobson a prime spot on their commentary page–from which to wage his vicious battle against non-traditional families. This outrageous theocrat is now targeting U.S. Senators who voted against a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

The senators who voted against marriage this month knew exactly what they were doing. The truth is they don’t give a hoot about the traditional family. The majority of them have voted repeatedly to weaken or undermine this great institution. Check the record.

If the battle to protect marriage takes even five more years, liberal judges and activists will have destroyed this 5,000-year-old institution, which was designed by the Creator, Himself. Even now, they are close to achieving that coveted objective.

This is disgusting, bigoted nonsense. In no way does gay marriage affect heterosexual marriage. In no way does it cheapen or attack anyone’s ‘family.’ All it does is recognize the legal rights of OTHER AMERICAN FAMILIES who already have de facto marriages.

Dobson’s arguments are based on theism and appeals to popularity, which also once supported slavery and the ‘divine right of kings.’ Dobson is a well-known fundamentalist religious zealot. Let’s be clear: he advocates denying the same rights he champions for what he calls "families" to millions of Americans who simply have a different concept of family.

This is vile hypocrisy at its worst. Dobson’s smiling publicity photo belies his thundering vitriol. He does not deserve to be legitimized by a spot on CNN.

Fuck CNN for putting his lame-ass on there. What are they trying to do, take Fox’s spot as the #1 rightwing propaganda outlet?

What’s really sad to me is that all of the networks seem to be realizing something: in the same way that the 80’s and 90’s mantra of marketing was ‘Sex sells’, the mantra for the 00’s seems to be ‘Fundies sell’. Look at Ann Coulter’s bullshit babble… sells like hotcakes. The GOP used to be a reasonable outlet for alternative outlets to liberal thought. Whether you agreed with the conservative vein of thought in the GOP, you could usually at least respect where they were coming from.

Then the fundies came, and all of a sudden the GOP is a party of the dominionist platform.

The media outlets seem to be being pulled to the right, and it’s money that’s talking. Even good ‘ole left wing NPR seems to get a majority of it’s sponsorship by conservative right-wing/fundy think tanks.

Blah @ the whole thing.

Sean… POST YOUR COMMENT to their article. Looking at this guys face, you can see that he hasn’t been well fucked for perhaps a lifetime?! never been allowed to express the inner pervert, and thus he can’t stand the idea of these guys living happily-ever-after in their sexual marital bliss! Yes, it would be the demise of the marital institution as we know it!

Dobson is a vampire. While the sky is literally falling, our senators have to scramble and put time, energy and money into defending from his slam. And shame on CNN for giving such credence to his one-sided inanity. Too bad their power is eroding from the real journalism going on… blogsites such as yours!

And Doson has a phd in child development?!? if he had ANY years of observation of the child, he would see that homosexuality is natural! normal! behaviors show up as young as 3… and one can’t force the child to be anything other than what he is. I have seen this in my tenure as a teacher for over 25 years as well as with my gay brother who began expressing his tendencies well under the age of 5, and never stopped.

Dobson is a sham! Mothers of gays need to be writing the REAL books on childrearing, and gays need to be writing the books on how to keep sexuality alive in a marriage. Then we might just have some long lasting relationships!
