Creationists Lose at the Ballot Box

The New York Times is reporting that:

Kansas voters on Tuesday handed power back to moderates on the State Board of Education, setting the stage for a return of science teaching that broadly accepts the theory of evolution, according to preliminary election results.

This is great news. But it’s sad that science is considered to be a subject where voter opinions have any relevance at all. Until we stop making science education into a popularity contest, it’s only a matter of time before it gets hijacked again.

The only problem is that this State Board keeps flip flopping between a creationist and evolutionist majority. Every damn election a new camp gets a majority. Lets hope it stays in the evolution majority from now on.

Or better yet, lets work for the fall of Democracy so that this majority-rules shit stops happening ;-)
