My Libertarian Cred

In case anyone had any doubts: But what I want to know is why we are called economic conservatives? Economic freedom is a liberal concept. Come on, that’s Libertarianism, as in Liberty. Where I don’t espouse total economic freedom is the so-called "freedom" to take from the natural world without replenishing, or to add pollution without offseting the costs incurred. Externalities must be paid for. But that’s the only economic regulation that makes any sense.

Libertarians are called economic conservatives because they are very conservative about where money is spent.

I’d like to see you take this test.

It’s a tad more comprehensive.

a, yes that makes sense. BTW, here is my score from the test you described:

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: 5.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.00

Aaron, you won’t like this, it put me much closer to the center. But I swear the questions were more confusing. Most of the time the questions were leading questions. So I’d still consider myself a libertarian, with anarchist leanings. What keeps me from being a total anarchist is that I think paradoxically a minimal legal framework actually allows individuals greater freedom than total anarchy.

Ditto for me.

I just read the and that test sucks. It is horrible in the leading and prodding way in which questions are asked, leading and then diving a different direction.
