Food vs. Fuel — It’s Started

Demand for ethanol has finally caught up with the corn subsidies and government price controls. It will hit poorer nations first, then everyone.

All the more reason non-food ethanol feedstocks such as cellulose from crop-waste must take center stage. The new moral dilemma for drivers: Your flex-fuel SUV may be taking food out of the mouths of babes.
