Hydrogen
Hydrogen is an energy carrier, not a source. It is extremely abundant, but only bonded to other atoms–it must be separated before it can be used–which takes energy. So it would be foolhardy to think of it as a replacement for oil. However, it may be possible to produce hydrogen from renewable sources to use as a transportation fuel. Energy losses are significant, however, and other processes involving zinc may prove more effective in the long term.
