Donovan, Lynch to Open Meditation University
Donovan, famous for ’60s pop hits such as “Hurdy Gurdy Man” and “Mellow Yellow” has announced plans to open the Invincible Donovan University, where students will adhere to the principles of transcendental meditation…
The David Lynch Foundation has introduced TM to schools in the U.S., where the 61-year-old filmmaker claims it has transformed results and behavior.
“We have gone into some of the most deprived areas and turned around kids with violent emotional and behavioral problems” he said. The duo said they will now contact Scottish authorities to have the institution accredited.
“For a country the size of Scotland it would take only 250 students meditating to protect Scotland from its enemies and to bring peace, to stop violence and drug abuse” Lynch said. “That is just a byproduct of the students meditating together.”
I actually support and enjoy meditation. You know, the kind you do in private. The kind that helps you calm your thoughts, center yourself, making you feel inner peace (if not enlightenment). Breathe. Aum…
Well, my eyes are open and my thoughts are running rampant right now (crazed monkey mind, you know), which is why it fucking pisses me off to hear people making claims like this. How stupid does Lynch think we are? Doesn’t he think there are already 250 people meditating in Scotland? And why do they need a university or a guru? Why does it have to be TM? Always an organization with these mystics and their fraudulent claims. Repeat after me: “Meditation does nothing for anyone who’s not meditating.” Get it? No spooky action at a distance.
Mr. Lynch, stick to films and TV. You’re a genius in that realm, I’d sell my (non-existent) soul to have your imagination and talent. But real life is not a film script. You can’t just say anything because you’re David Lynch. You actually have to pay attention to whether or not it’s true–or at least if it makes sense. When you make statements like this, you demean yourself and insult the intelligence of the rest of us.
