Father jailed over ‘possessed’ baby
22 December 2005
A school adviser who worked closely with police has been jailed for life for torturing and killing his baby because he thought she was possessed.
Sitab Ullah left his three-month-old daughter Samira with injuries and bruising from head to foot after claiming spirits were inside her. Ullah had been a pillar of his community until the death of his father, which made him turn to drugs, Bob Marshall-Andrews QC, defending, told the Old Bailey.
Ullah, 26, of Maida Vale, north-west London, was found guilty of murder on Wednesday.
