Repressed Shadow’s a Bitch
Utah ranks No. 1 in the nation — and sometimes the world — for using Google to search the Web for such terms as “Jesus,” “family history,” “Harry Potter,” “Mormon,” “Lord of the Rings,” “NBA,” “snowboarding,” “home storage” and “Mitt Romney.” But other terms where Utah also ranks No. 1 show a seedier side to local culture. Utah and/or Salt Lake City also rank tops in the nation in searches for “pornography,” “naked girls,” “striptease,” “topless,” “nude,” “strip poker,” “lingerie,” “blonde” and “brunette.”
No surprise, just like the plethora of adult stores in the U.S. bible belt. Forbidden fruit becomes just that much more attractive. Puritanical religions simply perpetuate and amplify that which they preach against. What a stupid mind-game.
In other repressed-shadow news, as has been widely mocked on the web, the late Jerry Falwell’s close associate Rev. Gary Aldridge just died of autoerotic asphyxiation. He was found covered in two rubber suits, wearing a diving mask, with a dildo up his ass. This in Alabama, whose law against the sales of all sex toys was just allowed to stand by the U.S. Supreme Court. May they all suffocate (metaphorically of course) on their hypocrisy and shame.
