Carbon Belch Day: When Morons Attack

Carbon Belch Day: When Morons Attack

Conservative grassroots group wants people to waste as much energy as possible on June 12 by "hosting a barbecue, going for a drive, watching television, leaving a few lights on, or even smoking a few cigars."

The point: the group wants to "help Americans break free from the ‘carbon footprint guilt’ being imposed by Climate Alarmists." says it’s skeptical over claims that man-made sources of carbon dioxide emissions — from automobile exhausts to manufacturing plants — are raising the Earth’s temperature at a dangerous rate. Theories about global warming were highlighted by former Vice President Al Gore’s 2006 film, An Inconvenient Truth. president Steve Elliott, in a statement, said such theories are off the mark. "It’s time for Americans to purge ourselves of the false guilt that Al Gore and the Climate Alarmists have placed on us," Elliott said. said it chose June 12 as the day it wants Americans to rev up their SUVs because it coincides with expected debate in Congress over a $1.2 billion carbon tax rebate program. "Carbon Belch Day will have at least as much impact on the so-called ‘planetary emergency’ of man-made global warming as the goofy save the earth mandates telling us to turn our lights off for an hour," said Elliott.

It’s a rank abuse of the term to apply the label "skeptic" to those who dispute well-established scientific consensus. Now they’ve brazenly crossed over into an admittedly symbolic, but yet very real form of generalized warfare on humanity. Someone so callous and flip as to intentionally waste energy on June 12 will no doubt continue wasting it the rest of the year. It’s a good thing I’m not in charge, because poetic justice would be taking all that CO2 they ‘belched’ and piping it back into their bedrooms while they were sleeping. Harsh? I don’t think so. Their wasted CO2 will eventually indirectly kill other human beings. (U.N. Secretary General Ban-Ki-Moon has called the Darfur conflict the first climate war.)

But seriously. Encouraging people to intentionally waste energy? The mentality! Such an idea could only come from incredibly unenlightened people with money to burn. Hence the word "moron." It’s one thing to use a lot of energy in your home or business, if you are conscious about it and at least trying to operate efficiently and conserve. But intentionally wasting it? Apparently the American economy hasn’t fallen hard enough or far enough to actually make certain people appreciate the luxuries they have. Nor do they acknowledge the hardships many people also face in this world for lack of such cheap and abundant energy. People operating treadle pumps to irrigate their crops, or cooking over cow-dung fires. How many families in the Third World could live for a year on the gasoline, natural gas and electricity these morons will intentionally waste in a day?

Shame is too weak a word for such ignominy. A pox on all their houses.

I didn’t realize that Choatic Evil actually existed in reality…

I like!

And I GUARANTEE only men will be a part of this “waste energy day” because ONLY girls care about “saving the planet”.

I think they really should go for it. When the gas price hits 10$/gallon – maybe the economics of their idiotic behaviour will convince them that something is going on – beside the carbon foortprint.

I wonder at what point “conservative” became sinonimous with “dangerously stupid”. I also wonder when conservatives will have enough and take back the term for themselves.

I wonder if people have nothing better to do in their lives…

There are crazy people everywhere…
